Are you a boy or a girl?
I'm whatever you want me to be~

What program do you use?
I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 to create everything.

Do you use a tablet?
Yes, I use a Bamboo Fun (Medium). I've had it for 3 years and it hasn't let me down.

Any advice for people wanting to start their own nuzlocke comics?
You can check out these helpful guides I made below (but I personally think I'm the world's worst teacher, so don't take my word as law):

Nuzlocke Guide: Part 1 - Introduction by YinDragon Nuzlocke Guide: Part 2 - Creating Characters by YinDragon Nuzlocke Guide: Part 3 - Story Planning by YinDragon Nuzlocke Guide: Part 4 - Comic Pages by YinDragon

Can you read / critique my nuzlocke comic?
Between work and family, I'm very limited on free time--and what free time I do have, I try to utilize by working on updates--so there's very little left over for me to look at every new nuzlocke people show me. ;(

Can I Skype you?
Truthfully, I'm a very quiet, private person irl, and I usually stream when I feel like being social. If you frequent my streams enough, there's a chance I may give out my Skype name if asked, but don't be surprised if I'm not very talkative.

What's your favorite pokemon?

Do you role-play?
I used to RP way back when, but unfortunately my RPing days are over. Now, almost all of my free time is devoted to my art, so please don't ask me to join your RP group or OCT.

What's that music you play during your livestreams?
Yin's Epic Playlist!

Have you beaten the game yet?
Yes, I completed my FireRed run before I started the comic.

How frequently do you update?
I try to update at least once a week, but it normally takes me anywhere between 1 to 3 weeks to complete a page.

How long does it take to make a comic page?
Altogether, it can take anywhere between 15 to 20 hours (depending on complexity).

Do you color the pages in grey-scale or color?
I purposely color the pages in grey-scale to give them a manga feel, and because it's more efficient than color.

Can the starter pokemon talk?
No, they can't--not because they're mute, but because they choose not to.

Did you really catch a clefairy in FireRed?
Yes, I did. And you can read the full explanation here.

Did you have Ken's story planned before creating Kick@$$ Mode, or are you making it up as you go along?
Ken is an old RP character I created in college. His story has existed for awhile, and I had plans of turning it into an actual fanfic one day, but never did. When I decided to use his story for a nuzlocke comic, I had to tweak a few details to fit the FR/LG plot, but the key elements remained unchanged. :)

How did you come up with Ken's design?
Ken was originally designed to be a parody of anime heroes, and I used characters such as Tai (Digimon), Cloud (FFVII), and Goku (DBZ) for inspiration. And yes, I'm aware that Ken bears a close resemblance to Reno / Axel, but that was unintentional.

How old is Ken?
Ken is presently 18 years old (and mentally 8). Gary and Daisy are also 18 (they're twins in my comic).

Doesn't Ken make any money off of trainer battles?
The Kick@$$ universe works a lot like the anime, where winning a battle doesn't necessarily mean you win the opponent's money. Trainers can still bet on battles, but it doesn't always happen.

Is Ken actually mewtwo?
I've already denied the "Ken is mewtwo" theory numerous times. He's not a mewtwo or a mewthree or a mew-anything. And while we're at it, he isn't Silver either. Sorry to disappoint~

How do all the characters have such fabulous hair?
They all use F-U-Gravity Hairspray (tm)!

Have you ever thought of drawing gijinkas of your characters?
I've done a few drawings already, but gijinkas really aren't my thing.

Can I draw fan art or cameo one of your characters in my comic?
I encourage it! So long as you give credit, of course~

Will there be a sequel to Kick@$$ Mode?
I originally had ideas for a sequel with Daisy as the main character, either in HeartGold or SoulSilver. But seeing as the current comic will take me roughly 4 to 5 years to complete, I doubt it's gonna happen.

Hey, guys!

It's been a week since I returned from having the experience of a lifetime with Loki-Poki in Scotland! I wanted to post a journal as soon as I got home, but I was so jetlagged that I spent my entire first day back sleeping, then I had to immediately jump back into work. Even then, my sleep schedule has been super fucked up all week (I keep waking up at 4 AM, wtf?).

Anyway, this is probably the first day I've had both the time and energy to type up a proper update. My original plan was to prattle on about my adventures with Loki and rate all the weird food I ate, but something else came up very recently that I feel I should probably address (although you can read about the trip in Loki's journal). It involves my nuzlocke comic as well, so keep reading if you're curious about that. Nooo, it's not cancelled. I can smell your dread from here.

The short version:

Being an adult sucks. Nuzlocke comic will be put on hiatus after next update so that I can focus on getting a new job.

The long version:

I'm not normally one to talk about my personal business online, but I feel you guys deserve to know why I've been so distracted and unreliable lately.

I've been working as a part-time employee at my new job for almost a year now. I'm fairly happy, even if my work is mind-numbingly repetitive, but almost immediately after returning from my vacation, I got some interesting news: I would be eligible for full-time a lot sooner than anticipated. This made me both happy and a little sad. Happy because, hey, more money! But sad for the obvious reason that what little free time I have for drawing and other hobbies is going to be drastically reduced even more. But even knowing that this promotion is going to hurt my update schedule, that's not even what I'm most upset about.

Truth is, when I took this job, it was a HUGE step down from my previous one. I essentially went from working my dream job at a video game studio (more like a nightmare, but I won't get into that) to working part-time at some dreary retail store. I didn't care at the time because I needed a job fast and I was willing to take anything I could get. It was meant to be a temporary arrangement, just a reliable source of income until I found the "right" job, but with the flexible hours and three day weekends, I became too complacent and lazy, and I sorta just...forgot about getting out.

The point of the story is: when I found out I'd be moving to full-time, I had a bit of a wake up call. If I'm going to be working 40 hours a week, I'd rather it be somewhere better than the current dead end, minimum wage place I'm at now. Ideally, I'd love nothing more to get back into the creative industry (because that's what I spent 4 years on an art degree for), but to do so, I'll have to put all my other projects on hold so that I can divert all my creative energy into perfecting my professional portfolio--and that includes my nuzlocke comic.

Now, believe me, this decision isn't easy for me. I truly love working on my comic, and I really, really don't like letting you guys down--but I seriously need to get my life back on track, and I feel that this decision will benefit both me and the comic in the long run. I'm still going to upload the next page this week because it's nearly finished anyway and I know that you guys have been more than patient. This hiatus also doesn't mean that I'll be leaving dA; you'll still see me derpin' around the community, and I'll probably stream some fun stuff to tide you guys over until Kick@$$ Mode's return (I still owe you guys a crack stream).

Hopefully Ken and the gang will be back soon~ Thank you all for being so wonderful and supportive!
